About Me
Kia ora.
As a psychotherapist, I help people reduce immediate distress, reflect on and process painful experiences, deepen self-understanding, strengthen relationships and discover new and more fulfilling ways of being themselves in the world.
I work predominantly with young adults aged between 18 and mid-30's.
My approach is relational and compassionate. I provide a meaningful and authentic human connection, based in empathy, curiosity and honesty. I show up as myself and bring my personality and soul into our work. Drawing on diverse relational, cultural and humanistic theories, I adjust to clients individual needs and contexts. We will learn about your experiences (both past and present), your understanding of the world, and your hopes and dreams. Together, we can help you find your way home.
I grew up on a farm near the ocean in Mohua Golden Bay, Aotearoa. During my twenties, I spent many years backpacking all over the world and living overseas. This had a significant impact on who I became and how I understand humanity. My late twenties were spent in post-graduate study at AUT, where my thesis topic centred on the relationship between climate anxiety and attachment theory. Now solidly in my thirties, I enjoy a quieter life. I follow my interests in art, music, climate action, yoga, psychedelic medicine, spirituality and community.
I have previously worked in suicide prevention, crisis counselling, spiritual development, financial hardship, complex mental health, and sexual trauma therapy.
Tāmaki Makaurau is now my home and my office is located in Herne Bay.
